My Clients had just moved in, they had an unusual master floor plan with with a huge white stone fireplace at the end of the room (we are not finished yet more photos to come of that)and dark beams and oak wood work everywhere and awful green paint.
We started with painting walls a neutral color that worked with the stone and warmed up the space with another neutral for the carpet. We painted all the woodwork except the beams a soft white.
The room need to be grounded and balanced with the fireplace so we made the bed the focal point with a custom headboard. My clients were on a budget so we used Pottery Barn bedding for duvet and sheet and added custom skirt and pillows to give it more of a custom and unique look.
Draperies we had to be careful not to infringe on the view, solution = simple panels that are stationary each on there own rod. The rod going across the whole window I felt was very distracting with the beams.
