Little Dresses
It is a good thing that I have a little boy. I would have a hard time controlling myself not buying up all the precious girly clothing I see. I love these adorable artsy dress by Sohomade kids
Now I just need to find cute boy clothes the only company I have found is Zutano. I guess I need to get out my sewing machine.

The town is a buzz
I am really looking forward to Thursday evening. Thom Filicia is having a book signing party at Anyela’s Vineyard. It is a sold out event I am fortunate to hold a ticket. Part of the portion of the ticket will be to support local breast cancer organizations which I think is awesome. 
After reading his book and I have to say I loved it. I was a bit skeptical about it when I leafed though it at the bookstore but once I started reading it I thought it was great. The books has amazing style and humor though out. He really breaks down the design process and gives you tips that do not cost a fortune. I also really liked that many of Thom’s designs have a degree of sustainability laced though out. He has a great section on color and shows his top 10 colors from Benjamin Moore. I agree with him on his colors they work beautifully. I highly recommend reading this book.
It is going to be a fun evening and I am looking forward to seeing Thom Filicia.

Pure Furniture

I have not seen such unique and fresh approach on furniture with being sustainable before. All materials are biodegradable, sustainable, non-emitting finishes and internal materials, and certified wood and fabrics.

Green Happenings
Happy Earth Day
Elan Interiors is going Green.
If you are like me you may be overwhelmed by all the Green marketing and green washing and not sure what is really good for you and the earth. It is so hard to figure out what is what. Up until now I have been aware of a lot of things but not paying too much attention.
I am now diving head first into green research and ways to help people with actual green choices in their home or business. One reason I am doing all this research is because I have a new project that is a Boutique Hotel that is going to be LEEDS certified. YAY! What an huge opportunity for Elan Interiors to be part of. The other part is to better my and my families life and of course to help the environment.
LEEDS- Leadership in Energy and Environmental it is a rating system the the US Green Building Council has put into place to help buildings become green. There are different levels that the system is based on-Platinum, Gold, Silver and Certified. The different levels are on a point system that are carefully analyzed by a design team to make sure each point that they are achieving make sense.
In this hotel project we are trying for Platinum which may be a bit difficult since it is a existing structure.
There is a lot of work and research that I am doing and I will be posting a lot about the amazing companies that I come across. I will be also try to give ideas and tips on how to make small changes that can be really beneficial to you and your family lives along with my other posts.

Spring Morning

Unfortunately I look out the window this morning it does not feel like spring with snow!
I have been really busy with different happenings that are going on.
My husband has been up in Down East Maine for the past month cutting and putting up a timber frame.
Awhile back I posted that I was getting my laundry room done. Yay! it is finally almost done it has been 9 months of living with exposed plaster walls. Here are some before and afters.

I am in the midst of working on a LEEDS Certified Green project. WOW is all I can say there is so much incredible information to know. I will be posting more on it.
