New Year's Resolutions

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S

I love this week between Christmas and New Year's. I feel like I am finally breathing again! It has been a crazy couple of weeks with getting all my Christmas stuff done and getting everything done for my clients in time for their holidays. I feel like I did not take a breath of air for the past month.
The first 2 days after Christmas I think I was comatosed My husband was getting worried that I was not talking a mile a minute (oh -I love caffeine in the morning) when he finally woke up ( 2-hours after me ...Yes I am a crazy morning person). I was just kind of sitting there watching my son play with all his new toys. (not that, that is bad- just unlike me). I think I stayed in my pajama's the majorityof the day. I did not feel human till I went for a run later in the afternoon. New Year's Resolution #1 start preparing for Christmas season in July.

On top of being comatose computer crashed the day after Christmas. That was a very weird sensation of not being connected. I think it took me a full 2 days to get used to it. I actually kind of liked it after I got used to it.I really seemed to have more time for other things. New Year's resolution #2 stop being on the computer so much.

I am back and feeling good and rested I finally started going through my home office and organizing all the items that I kept stacking for the past couple of months. I think I am starting a bit earlier then the New Year's to Organize. The Tree is down. The Christmas decorations put away till next year. Boy do I feel refreshed with that done! I can't wait till 2009! New Year's resolution #3 try to stay more organized.

For 2009 I have lots of things that I am working on in my head. I am excited to start implementing them. I heard on the radio that Martha Stewart said that she expects this next year to be her best year ever. She claims that people will staying home more and looking for things to do and projects to work on. I looked on-line and could not find this statement from her to back up what I heard, but I share her thoughts. I think 2009 will be great -I believe that people will be working on their homes. I think people have slowed there spending but this is good. You spend more time on figuring out what you really need and what is important. It is so easy to do small things that have a big impact. I will follow up more on this with other blogs. New Year's resolution #4 Blog more.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful and relaxing New Year's

All things that sparkle and are bright

It once again has been a bit since my last post. I have been a little elf decorating everywhere for Christmas.

I usually start at Thanksgiving time and do all the decorations at the Genesee Grande Hotel. At the hotel I usually do 2 huge trees on in the lobby and one in the ballroom. In addition I do 2 med trees, lots of garland and bows, small vignettes here and there. Then it is off the the Parkview hotel to do a few things to get in the festive mood.

Then it is off to another house to decorate which I will take pictures of and post and somewhere in the mix I get to do my house. I was putting garland on the outside at 8:30 at night the other night I think my neighbors think I am crazy.

The tree actually was naked in my house for 5 days till I had a chance to decorate it. It drove my husband crazy since I was such a pest to get the tree.

This is how I addressed my mantel on our salvaged fireplace mantel the photo does not do the tree in the middle justice.

In my trees I always love putting in items that you find in nature I love using birds and silk flowers and glittering branches. Off course you have to use beautiful ribbon as well. I find the best deals on ribbon at Sam's club of all places. Another great place I have found ornaments especially the birds is Martha Stewart at Kmart they usually sell out early.

I am brewing up new ideas for next years trees at the hotel and at my house. This year coming I am convinced I will be more organized and order everything in the summer. Ha -but who wants to think of Christmas in August.
